In a nutshell, asthma is a lung disease that is characterized by swollen and inflammed airways that makes breathing difficult. This includes dust, smoke, feathers and the like.
You see, when you are sensitive to this kind of particles, it means that your airways react easily, thus, it can trigger swelling and narrowing of your airways or bronchial tubes. Sometimes, these tubes can even be blocked because the muscles in your airways tighten and constrict. As a result, air cannot easily get in and out of the lungs making is rather difficult for the person to breathe. Among the numerous causes that triggers asthma are allergens, which includes natural particles such as molds, mildew and feathers; irritants, which includes particles that are found commonly in households such as cleaning sprays and perfumes and smoke; and lastly, physical conditions which includes triggers from vigoruous exercise, weather changes and stress.
