Common Causes Of Asthma - Asthma Symtoms
Asthma is a respiratory condition marked by spasms in the bronchi of the lungs, causing difficulty in breathing. It usually results from allergic reaction or other forms of hypersensitivity. We get oxygen through the nose or mouth. The air then passes through the windpipe and to the bronchi, which are connected to the lungs. The blood cells passing through the lungs absorb the oxygen and distribute it to the entire body. Asthma happens when the air cannot get to the lungs because the bronchial tubes are swollen, constricted or blocked with mucus. Swelling or inflammation occurs when there are irritants. The body produces mucus to battle these unwanted substances and that is the natural defensive mechanism but in some people, there are tendencies for over-reaction. Swollen tubes and too much mucus block the airway that causes an asthma attack.
Another cause could be constriction of the bronchial tubes. The muscles around these tubes squeeze too tight that the air couldn’t pass. Constriction is another reaction of the body to triggers like allergies or sensitivity to foreign substance accidentally taken into the body. Again, this is a natural body process, but in some people their systems react very differently. What triggers swelling and constriction, which causes asthma? A lot but the most common are allergens, irritants and the physical conditions surrounding the person. Allergens include sensitivity to pollen, fur, feathers, insects, animals, dust or molds. Irritants could be cigarette smoke, polluted air, perfume, or household-cleaning items. Physical conditions refer to stress, emotions, extreme weather change, or the person’s lifestyle.
